Strong Weekend
for Team CBD and Overton in Georgia |
|
Swainsboro,
GA - Brandon Overton and the CBD Racing Team headed
south for a Thursday night special under-card event for
the crate late models at the Swainsboro Raceway June
18th paying $2,500 to win. With weathering threatening
and eventually putting a delay on the start of events a
late evening of racing lead to some great action. After
qualifying for the full field of crate late models,
Overton saw himself starting in the 5th position. At the
end of the night at the track was beinging the lock down
and dry out, young Overton seemed to be the only driver
with any forward bite as lap by lap Brandon worked his
was into the 2nd position and began to put pressure on
late model veteran and former CBD stand in driver Bob
Robertson. However time ran short on the 25 lap main
event and Overton settled for a respectable 2nd place
finish.

Note: Later on in the weekend at local facility
Gordon Park Speedway Overton placed 3rd in a field of
12. This mark Overton's 3rd top five finish in the month
of June out of 4 events competed in. Overton will be
behind the wheel again this Friday at the home facility
of Modoc Speedway for the third race of four races in a
Modoc Cup Mini Series.

Overton Goes
Back to Back at the Doc |
|
Modoc,
SC - Modoc Speedway hosted another big crate show
this time paying $1000 to win Friday night April 17th.
Twenty competitors showed up for the 25 lap feature
event which increased purse throughout the field. CBD
had two cars in attendance, with the back up car being
wheeled by veteran driver Monk Gulledge who came home
with a respectable 8th place finish for his first ever
time sitting in the Barry Wright Chassis owned by George
Trull. The spot light however was on
young
gun Brandon Overton as he worked his was into the second
position early on in the event and began to put pressure
on leader Brian Connor. Connor slipped in turn two just
after the halfway mark and Overton made his move.
Overton came across the line first when the checkers
fell making it his second win in a row at the 25 year
old facility that he dubs his home track.

Trull Makes
First Career Race a Learning Experience |
|
Grovetown, GA - Chris Trull finally got to do
something he has always wanted to do, drive one of the
cars he spends much of time working on. Saturday night
April 11th marked the season opener for the Gordon Park
Speedway. The team came together and decided it was a
perfect time for Chris
to
get some seat time learn in the Barry Wright chassis.
When the night was threw Trull walked away with an 8th
place finish but position is not what mattered in his
mind. The seat time and the opportunity to learn is what
mattered in his mind. You really have to get behind the
wheel of one of these things to understand the ability
it takes to drive a late model. After working on the
cars for the past five years I just had to know what it
was like, said Trull. I will drive again just need some
more seat time to learn.

Overton Gets
First Win As New CBD Driver Plus Weekend Points Bonus |
|
North
Augusta, SC
- Brandon Overton and the CBD Racing Crew got the
setup nailed down. Overton's home track of Modoc
Speedway Friday night April 3rd hosted a weekly show
with a twist. The highest point man between Modoc
Speedway in Modoc, South Carolina and Lavonia Speedway
in nearby Lavonia, Georgia the next night April 4th got
a $500 bonus. The hometown hero grabbed two honors this
weekend and did it in stylish fashion. On the Friday
night Overton was running 3rd near the halfway mark of
the race behind Defending National Champion Royce Bray
leading and second place local Brian Connor. On
restart
where the first and second place drivers hesitated
Overton made a bold move to time the start to perfection
and grabbed the lead around both drivers, which in turn
allowed Overton to set sail and hold off the likes of
late race hard charges like Bob Robertson and Wendell
Chavous to take his very first win in the CBD house car.
The next night Overton managed a 5th place finish giving
him the honor of being the high point man for the
weekend and winning the $500 bonus money.

time on the Goodyears and we're proud and very
glad to see it, we feel strong and only more good to
come from having Brandon behind the wheel," quoted Team
